SUCCESSFUL MEDICAL MANAGEMENT OF VIPER BITE IN A DOG : A CASE REPORT

An one year old male American Bully was presented to Multi speciality veterinary hospital Kudappanakunnuwith a history of viper bite 1 hour ago. Fang marks were noticed on the left buccal mucosa region, bleeding from the buccal mucosa and severe face oedema could be noticed while presenting. The hematobiochemical values of the dog showed increased total leucocyte count, aspartate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase and blood urea nitrogen, decreased hemoglobin, total rbc, thrombocyte count and haematocrit. Treatment was done using polyvalent anti snake venom,fluids,antibiotic therapy for 5 days, hematinics and liver supportive also.
