Abstract
Cysticercus tenuicollis, larval stage of Taenia hydatigena, is a proclaimed as one of economically important disease affecting small ruminants. Disease holds economic and public health significance, primarily due to the condemnation of affected organs during meat inspection. Food animals become infected through accidental ingestion of feed or water contaminated with tapeworm eggs. A male Jamunapari goat was presented to the Veterinary clinical complex with a history of pneumonia and respiratory distress. Necropsy findings revealed multiple cysts in the peritoneum and within the lungs. Lungs showed frothy exudates, and upon incision, the trachea was found filled with frothy exudates. Liver exhibited petechial haemorrhages and ongestion was observed in the kidney. Affected tissue samples were collected in 10% formalin for histopathological examination using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining to confirm the diagnosis. Additionally, cysts were collected in 70% alcohol for further orphological analysis. It was confirmed on histopathological examination that the etiological agent was Cysticercus tenuicollis.
